Hello friends! I just wanted to let you know what I've been doing thus far. The first week I got to relax and go out into a few of the communities near the Ten Thousand Homes base before I officially began DTS. I got to meet so many wonderful Go-Gos (Grandmas of the entire community), enjoy Coca-Colas at tea-time, go to 3-hour church services, and play with some of God's beautiful children at after-school programs. This week has already been so stretching, yet so wonderful. I'm already beginning to realize that I cannot love others with my own strength. I must constantly be striving to rely on the Holy Spirit if I am to make any impact at all. It's also been so amazing to form relationships with people in the communities of Dwaleni, Mbonisweni, and Clau-Clau. I'm so excited to have fellowship with these wonderful people, and have them impact my life in incredible ways. I know that in order to have effective ministry, I will need to form strong friendships with those I am surrounded by. Only then will I be able to make a mark in this world. It is not about me changing others, but about me being changed by the friendships and experiences I have while I am here, and being changed by God's redeeming love.
